Fabricating MGB Alloy Radiator Expansion
Tank
Using
the left-hand drive brake assembly blanking plate area, I decided to
use this space for the radiator expansion tank. The original
blanking plate was used as a template for the base, and a simple
quadrangle shaped box was created. The bulkhead has 4 captive
nuts already in place for mounting the tank. The front 3
sides are folded from 1 piece and measure 3,4,3 inches wide, with a
single 6 inch wide plate for the rear, The height is 5.5
inches, plus just over an inch for the radiator filler
neck. This gives a capacity comparable with the standard
plastic bottle.

Worth
the effort I think, much better than that plastic thing.
The weld on necks are
available from DemonTweeks, page 192 of their Motor-sport
catalogue. Warning if you have a credit card your
balance may not
survive this experience.

Chrome bumper models may have
the remote servo in this position
and rubber bumper models with the servo on the pedal box may not have
this
blanking plate at all.
